10 Tips for a Green Salon

I tried a new salon this week and got a fabulous new haircut and brow wax.? Someday I'm going to get the Gweneth Paltrow long bob, but I started growing out the bangs that I immediately regretted cutting about a year ago and they are not quite long enough yet. So for now, I'm still long and layer-y and naturally red.? (And boo to the hairstylist to pointed out the couple of "wiry grays" I had coming in. "You're probably going to hate the texture of your hair when it turns gray. They're so wiry!" -- Gee, thanks.)

The salon is an Aveda concept salon and I immediately took note of their eco-friendly practices.? The first thing I noticed was a big basket of rolled up washcloths in the bathroom by the sink. Not a single paper towel to be found. I was then offered a cup of organic, fair trade tea.? Such little things that make such a big impact.

If the salon you visit could use a little nudge to green up the place, pass along our article, 10 Tips for a Green Salon. It doesn't take huge effort to make these changes and the salon will save money in the long run.
