If you've been around for awhile, you know that we think that facial cleansing cloths are a godsend. They're quick, easy and especially great for travel, the gym and late nights.

What we love about Simple Skin Care's Cleansing Facial Wipes is the size and thickness of the cloth. It's easy to get your entire face clean with one cloth, and they actually do a pretty good job of removing eye makeup, including mascara.

These pre-moistened wipes are packed in a typical plastic bag-like package with a hole in the front center where you can pull out a wipe. We did notice that the hole was especially small, and while it's nice to have a small hole in order to keep the air out, it was a bit frustrating to get only one cloth out at a time.

We did however appreciate the large sticker closure over the hole. This keeps the hole completely covered which keeps the cloths from drying out. Even if the edges start peeling back, there is still plenty of sticker to cover the hole.

The cloths are free from oil, alcohol, perfume and dyes. (They do contain parabens, if you look for those.)

Simple Skin Care, the #1 selling skincare brand in the UK, recently launched their brand in the United States. Currently at the time of this review, they are only available in Duane Reade stores throughout NYC as well as DuaneReade.com, but watch their US website for the upcoming launch.

Guide Review- Avon Skin So Soft Fresh & Smooth Facial Hair Removal Cream

I had a hair removal party and used this product on three different hair and skin types. Let me say, trying to come up with an invitation for that was a bit difficult! We tried several different types of hair removers, but the number one for the evening was this product by Avon.

Picture three girls, with relatively thick mustaches and even one person with what she called her goatee. They all used the Avon hair removal cream on their faces.

First Tackle: Sensitive Skin

The first victim, "Elizabeth", has blond, thin hair. She tends to have sensitive skin and breaks out with most make-up and skin care products. She had a slight mustache that she was not fond of and would normally shave it every day. She used to wax but with the economy the way it is, she has to watch every penny.

She simply used the tube and smoothed on a thick layer over her top lip and left it on for 2 minutes and 3 seconds. Yep, we had a stopwatch. Voila. All her hair was gone. She didn't have any redness, bumps or tightness and said her upper lip felt very soft. She was pleased with the outcome.

Next Up: Thick Facial Hair

The second girl to try the product was "Nelah". She had the same mustache going on, except her facial hair is black and thick. She has normal skin with no dryness. I must add that she is from India, and beautiful without the extra facial hair, but with it, wow. Let's just say I was happy to have her try the product.

She simply applied cream and waited for 3 minutes and 23 seconds. She has tried cream hair removers before and has always had to leave them on for much longer than recommended. Using a warm damp cloth she revealed her beautiful hairless face. There was no redness or puffiness, and her face felt soft. Although she could do with out the "nasty smell", as she put it.

Last: De-fuzzing Lip and Chin

Next was "Gretchen". She has drier skin with brown, thick hair that tends to be coarser. She did the same by smoothing the product over her lip and chin area. She waited the exact 2 minutes and thirty seconds and removed it to reveal her hairless lip and chin. She said she did not have to press hard to remove the hair. Her upper lip felt tight but not dry, and she had no redness or red bumps. She said it beat the painful waxing she has been doing for years.

Overall

The only downfall that these girls and I found was the awful scent of the product. It did not smell fresh or clean. It did its job well and lived up to everything the product information stated.

Spearmint Tea for Excess Body and Facial Hair (Hirsutism)?

I've read a couple times now about how spearmint tea may help women reduce excess facial and body hair by lowering levels of androgens. Men and women both produce androgens, but men produce more of these hormones. A hormonal imbalance can encourage hirsutism (excess body and facial hair), often linked with having PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). According to this study, drinking two cups of spearmint tea a day for five days could reduce the level of androgens in women with hirsutism. Read the full details to see the amount and brew time.

I'm a huge tea fan and blend a lot of my own creations. Spearmint is one I use quite a bit because I love any kind of mint and it also adds a hint of sweetness so there's less (or any) desire to use sugar or honey. But brewed alone it also tastes great and is very refreshing.

I have many women email me with hirsutim asking for help with hair removal, and can understand how frustrating a battle that would be. So if something as simple, natural and affordable as drinking spearmint tea would help, even a little, that would be wonderful.

Question: Is Facial Hair Threading Fast?

I used to get waxing at a salon for my facial hair, but I’ve turned to tweezing because the wax was really irritating my skin. My skin doesn't get red or irritated, but now it takes forever removing hair one by one. Should I try threading, or will that take just as long?

Answer: Facial hair threading, a technique using a string to remove hair passed down through generations in eastern countries is becoming extremely popular here for many reasons, like being chemical-free and gentle to the skin. Also like tweezing it removes the entire hair follicle from the root, getting hair free results for weeks. Although you would think using a string sounds like a long process, it's very fast.

Facial Hair Threading- How Does it Work So Fast?

The process uses a cotton string in a twisting motion, to trap hair in a mini lasso that pulls up each hair right out of the follicle as it passes along the skin. An artful technique, that's amazing to watch. It's faster than waxing because it doesn't require much prepping of the skin, applying product or strips. The speed can't even compare to the monotonous chore of tweezing, who has time for that? While everyone technician is different, the girl who has done my facial hair threading gets my eyebrows done in two minutes flat.

You'll have to find someone experienced in facial hair threading, it's not something offered at most salons and spas. Once you experience the speed, you might just toss your tweezers away.

How To Pluck Facial Hair

We tell you how to pluck facial hair whether you have a few or alot to remove. The tips you need to know on how to grab it easily, feel less pain and have longer lasting results.

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 15 - 25 minutes to pluck facial hair

Here's How:

1. Buy a good pair of tweezers. If your tweezers are sliding off it's going to take you a lot more time to get the job done. Worse, if they're breaking hair above or below skin's surface instead of removing it from the root, then the hair is going to show up days later instead of weeks. My pick: Tweezerman Slant Tweezer (compare prices).
2. Pull or pin-back hair. You want to see your face clearly, so you can get the best results.
3. Wash face with warm water. You want skin nice and clean, and warm water helps relax skin and hair follicle for easier removal. If you haven't exfoliated recently, now is a good time to do that so there isn't a build up of dead skin cells around hair. Wipe off and pat dry to remove moisture.
4. Tweeze hair. Standing in front of a mirror with good lighting hold skin taut with free hand, grab onto hair as close as you can near the skin and remove it in the direction that it grows.
5. Keep going. Begin with only the thick, dark hair first and see if that does the job.
6. Fine tune. If the finer hairs are still bothering you then remove them too in the same way. If you're having a hard time seeing them, apply a little baby powder to area and the hair will be more noticeable. While working, dust off any hair with towel to keep the place you're plucking clean and clear.
7. Soothe skin. When finished and skin is red or irritated, you can apply an aloe-based lotion or gel with a cotton square.

Tips:

1. Don’t dig tweezers into skin to grab really short hairs. Wait until it grows out in a couple days for removal.
2. By gently holding skin taut with your free hand while tweezing, means less tugging and pain on the skin.
3. If you're worried about pain, apply a numbing spray (compare prices) to a cotton swab and then to facial area. Make sure not to get near eyes!

Question: Do I Really Need a Facial Moisturizer?

I want to know if I really need a facial moisturizer. Can't I just use my body moisturizer for my face as well?

Answer:

Yes! You need a specific facial moisturizer. And I promise I'm not just making you spend more money, there really are a couple of reasons why you shouldn't use your body moisturizer on your face.

You face is more sensitive than your body, and it has special needs that the rest of your body doesn't have. Some people are acne prone, some are prone to fine lines and wrinkles. A body moisturizer doesn't need to worry about doing anything other than hydrating your body. Many times there are added fragrances included in body moisturizers to give you a soft scent as well as hydration, and 99% of the time there is no SPF sun protection. When it comes to a facial moisturizer, you need to make sure you're picking one that is meant for your skin type. Here are the four skin type characteristics for you to see where you fit.

• Normal Skin
• Combination Skin
• Oily Skin
• Dry Skin

If you just use your body moisturizer, you could wind up with more frequent breakouts and most likely oily skin.

The second reason to stick with a facial moisturizer is for sun protection. Many facial moisturizers add in SPF coverage these days. If your facial moisturizer doesn't have it, make sure you apply before you head out.

So while it might be an extra step in your morning routine, I think you'll be happier with the condition of your skin after you start using a moisturizer meant specifically for your skin type, and your face.

Facial Mask Options

If you're looking to add a beneficial step in your skin care regime, a weekly facial mask is a great addition. No matter your skin type, there is a facial mask suited for you. Usually used once or twice a week, facial masks can deep down clean your face, tighten your pores, or brighten and exfoliate your face. Masks are not a "one size fits all" product though. There are clay masks, fruit extract masks, yogurt masks, and gel masks, just to name a few in a long lineup. Before you buy a facial mask, you must recognize your skin type and buy accordingly.
