How To Fill Eyebrows

A bad eyebrow wax, going tweezer happy at home or thinning brows may leave you in desperate need of some help. Before you start fixing your problems, we’ll tell you how to fill in your eyebrows so they still look natural.

Even if you already have a great shape in place, most women can really benefit from adding a couple strokes of color. Pencil, powder and mousse are some of the ways to make those sparse areas vanish and bring out your best.

Difficulty: Easy

Time Required: 1 - 3 minutes to fill eyebrows

Here's How:

  1. Buy a good eyebrow powder, mousse or pencil. Any product that you choose may take some time to master. My pick: Japonesque Eyebrow kit.
  2. Decide on the color you will need. If you have dark hair, you should choose a color that is a shade or two lighter than your natural color. (If you have light hair and are deeping them, opt for a tone a half to one shade darker.)
  3. Use a light hand. Do not use too much product or press on skin hard. Remember, it's always easier to add color than to remove.
  4. For powder. Using a stiff angled brush apply the powder in angles by following the way your hair is growing.
  5. For pencils. Lightly hold the pencil and draw hair strokes in the sparse areas. Use a stiff angle brush to soften the lines.
  6. Stand back. Take a look, standing at a distance from the mirror to see if the brows are looking visually balanced so far.
  7. Fine-tune. Add more color if needed. Don’t overdo it.
  8. Use a brow wax. A wax will keep your brows from smudging if you used pencil or powder for tamed for all day beauty. (Mousse will dry on its own. A good product like Blinc eyebrow mousse won't smudge or flake either.)

Tips:

  1. Don't go over board. Less is more in this situation.
  2. If the color is too dark or the wrong tone, all you (and everyone else) will see is your painted on eyebrows.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask your sales person for testers. It’s important for you to be happy with what you are buying and colors may look different in the tube than on your face.
  4. If your brows are sparse because of stress, aging or thyroid issues, try an eyebrow revitalizer like Talika Lipocils.
