Just because you are a man, you don't have a green light to pass on taking care of your skin. With just about as many options on today's shelves for men as for women, it can get a little confusing. I can understand why so many men just forget about it and stick with the bar soap. It's time to change that old habit and finally get a couple of men's skin care products that are meant to nourish your face, not strip it of the oils it needs.
I'm making it easy for you today with only two must-have items. Grab a facial cleanser and a facial moisturizer (or protector) to use daily and you'll have much better skin.
1. Facial Cleanser
What makes a facial cleanser different than your bar of soap is the fact that soap strips your skin of everything while a cleanser simply cleans your skin but leaves the necessary oils where they belong. You might think that oils are bad, but actually your skin needs them. Skin that is too dry not only feels tight and sometimes itchy, but it also shows signs of aging faster.
If your skin shows oil quite a bit during the day, you may like to try Nivea for Men: Oil Control Purifying Face Wash to control the shine. If your skin is normal to dry, go with Zia: Hydraclean Face Wash. Both can be found at your local drugstore.
2. Facial Moisturizer
It took me forever to get my husband to use a facial moisturizer. I think many men have this mindset that lotions are for girls. But when you start using it, like my husband, you'll notice less sensitive and itchy skin. Use a moisturizer every morning after you wash and shave your face. This will not only moisturize your skin, but help heal it from any razor irritation you may have. If you find one you like with SPF protection, even better.
Those of you with normal or dry skin may like Neutrogena Men: Triple Protect Face Lotion. If your skin is on the oily side, try L'Oreal Men's: Expert Oil Controller Anti-Oiliness Moisturizer. Again, easily found at your local drug store.
